President of India Pranab Mukherjee honoured the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ award on veteran actor Rajnikanth at Rashtrapati Bhavan Superstar Rajinikanth awarded and honoured with Padma Vibhushan. While Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Priyanka Chopra got Padma Shri.
However, it is the proud moment for Rajinikanth Fans, family and all well wisher that one of the most celebrated actors of his generations with fans according him the status of a demi-god, is already a recipient of Padma Bhushan.

Padma Vibhushan is India’s second highest civilian award.
Padma Awards are given to recognise people’s distinguished contribution and dedication in various fields including art, science, social work, public affairs, medicine, literature, sports, educations, trade and industry and civil services among many others.
Since after making his debut making with K Balachander’s “Aboorva Ragangal” in 1975, the actor saw a steady rise to stardom, which continues even today. The Tamil superstar has also acted in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali films. His famous movies are “Thalapathi”, “Nallavanuku Nallavan”, “Sivaji” and “Enthiran” among many others.
Many celebrities congratulated him and expressed their happiness on receiving Padma Vibhushan to Rajnikanth who one of the most popular actor of his times.
Earlier, the film and art personalities, who were honoured with Padma Awards, include stars like Ajay Devgn, Anupam Kher, Priyanka Chopra and Madhur Bhandarkar. Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, architect Hafeez Contractor, former Comptroller Auditor General Vinod Rai, Badminton player Saina Nehwal, archer Deepika Kumari, Reliance Industries founder late Dhirubhai Ambani, chef Imitiaz Qureshi, scientist Onkar Nath, journalists Ashok Malik and Pushpesh Pant among others also were honoured.
Padma Awards are divided into three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Nine personalities received the Padma Vibhushan, 13 well-known people won the Padma Bhushan and 83 persons have been awarded with Padma Shri.
