PV Sindhu Slips to 6th Position, Parupalli Kashyap Breaks into Top 25 in BWF Rankings

On Tuesday, Indian badminton player PV Sindhu slipped to the sixth position in the latest BWF Rankings while Parupalli Kashyap on the other hand moved up by five positions in order to make his way in the top 25 rankings.

Earlier, Sindhu made her position in the fifth position and had a poor run in the Korea Open as she crashed out of the competition in the first round. Also, in the China Open, she has also faced a second-round exit.

On the other hand, Kashyap is now holding the 25th position as he presented an excellent performance in the Korea Open where he also managed to reach the semi-finals.

At the same time, he has also faced a 13-21, 15-21 setback in the semi-final from the Kento Momota of Japan.

“I am feeling good. I need to maintain fitness and keep working hard. May be, now top 20 by year end can be possible,” Kashyap told PTI.

Sai Praneeth as well as Srikant Kidambi both has moved up by one spot in order to hold the 12th and 9th position correspondingly. An additional Indian to feature in the Top 25 in the men’s singles list is Sameer Verma, who has also improved one place in order to reach on the 17th position.

Parupalli Kashyap Breaks into Top 25 in BWF Rankings

Apart from Sindhu, there is only Saina Nehwal who is there in the Top 25 ranking in the women’s singles category. Nehwal on the other hand did not move from her eighth position in the list.

Talking about other Indians, Kidambi Srikanth, B Sai Praneeth as well as Sameer Verma has improved a place each in order to achieve the World No 9, 12 and 17th spots respectively.

Thailand Open winners Satwiksairaj Rankireddy as well as Chirag Shetty have also maintained to remain at the 12th spot in men’s doubles, while Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy on the other hand, who had finished runners-up at Maldives, have gained a spot to reach 19th position.
