It took Samsung a year to add the second variant to their popular “A” series which they launched in India last year. We are talking about Galaxy A5 here. New Galaxy A5 is priced at the amount of INR 29,400 and seems quite better than its predecessor in terms of features and specs. Today we will be discussing about the handset and features offer by it in detail.
Display
In terms of its looks, it resembles to that of Samsung’s Galaxy S6. It sports 5.2” super AMOLED HD Display delivering screen resolution up to 1080X1920p with pixel density of 423ppi. One gets vibrant colors with bright and good viewing angle. If its display is compared to that of its predecessor then we have sharp display with quite good visibility even in sunlight. It has a 2.5D curved display incorporating corning gorilla glass 4 protection, one gets smudges on the screen but thankfully screen is not glossy.
Software front
It is powered by Cortex A-53 Octa core processor based on snapdragon 615 chipset. The processor here is combined with 2GB and also includes Adreno 405 GPU to augment the graphics. It operates on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS which is further layered by Samsung’s own User Interface. Company has not yet divulged any details regarding the OS update.
There are many toggles in the drop down notification and one can customize the row accordingly. To let one have multi-tasking it also boards the option of Multi-window along with a smart manager app so that one can manage and optimize the battery life, manage storage, RAM, security in a single place. For users only 1.84GB of RAM is available and when the apps by default are running in the back ground one gets only 651MB of RAM.
It bears 16GB of internal storage and out of which 10.8GB is available for the users. One also have the option of moving the application into the MicroSD card slot.
Camera
It accommodates 13MP of shooter at the rear which is coupled along with camera features like f/1.9 aperture, single LED flash, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It also comprehends camera modes like HDR, Panorama, effects like Posterise, Sepia, Greyscale, negative etc, voice control and timers. One can use the home button to launch the camera by just pressing it twice. The quality of camera is quite good thanks to the added feature of OIS that let one have blur-free images. There is 5MP camera mounted at the front to click selfies and for video calling.
It is disappointing to have camera that it unable to shoot videos at 4k quality.
Battery and connectivity
It houses 3000mah battery which the company claims to last whole day long even with the heavy usage. Power saving mode and ultra power saving mode let one save their battery life. It entails connectivity features like Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, OTG support etc. It also encompasses USB back up option to let one have backup option for their images, audio, video etc.
