Mumbai: On Thursday, The Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL),where the Scorpene submarines are being built said that the data leak did not take place from its end and it was assisting the Navy in the investigation.
An MDL official said that there were stricts norms on MDL on data security, a day after the data leak of six highly advanced submarines being built for the Indian Navy in Mumbai with the help of a French company.
An MDL official tod PTI in Mumbai that we are helping Navy in the probe. Certain the data leak did not take place from our side.
Reacting to reports of the massive data leak, the official said that it needs to be verified if the leaked documents are authentic.
Head of MDL Rear Admiral Rahul Shrawat was not available for comments on this incident.
French shipbuilder DCNS has provided technology for the Rs 23,562-crore project.
According to media reports that the documents containing 22,400 pages detail the combat capabilities of French-designed Scorpene-class submarines.
The Australian – an Australian newspaper put the details on the website that the combat capability of the scorpene submarines being built at Mazagon dock at a cost of USD 3.5 billion by French shipbuilder DCNS.
On Wednesday, Defence Minister of India Manohar Parrikar had ordered the Navy Chief to go into the entire issue. A report is also being sought from French company – DCNS.
Defence Minister Parrikar had said that what I understand is there is a hacking. So we will find out all this.
