Sharpshooter Mohammad Kaif surrendered & send 14 days police custody

PATNA: Sharpshooter and wanted Mohammad Kaif urf Bunty, accused in the murder of Siwan journalist Rajdeo Ranjan, surrendered before the Siwan court on Wednesday.

ADG(HQ) – Sunil Kumar said that Mohammad Kaif surrendered before the court of CJM in Siwan around 3:45 pm on Wednesday. Kaif has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days, however, Siwan police will seek for his police remand for further interrogation in different cases.

On 16th September, Siwan police attached the property of Kaif. A team of police reached his house at Dakshin Tola in Siwan and executed the property attachment order of the court. In a case of demanding extortion from a private engineering college, Kaif was absconding. The extortion case was registered against Kaif urf Bunty and three others with town police station in the month of August.

The Siwan Police launched an operation to grab Kaif after his photograph with former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, surfaced in the media. Another sharpshooter Mohammad Javed was also present in the same video, he is also reported absconding for the police.

As per the record of Siwan police, Kaif was sent to jail in the year 2007 in a case of eve-teasing in Siwan and have been accused in several extortion and murder cases.

The journalist Ranjan was shot dead on May 13 at a fruit market in Siwan and the investigation of the case has recently taken up by the Central bureau of Investigation (CBI).
