Supreme Court agress to hear a petition seeking FIR against Mayawati in assets case

The Supreme Court (SC) of India today admits to hear a petition seeking FIR against BSF Supremo and former UP CM Mayawati  in connection with illegal assets case. The court admits to file a new FIR against former Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

However, the court said it will not pass any immediate order but agreed to hear the case.

On the other hand, the government had earlier informed the court that there is no ground to file a new FIR against the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

In other development, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi who represents the Centre/CBI today told the Supreme Court that the issues of donations to Mayawati had already been heard by Income Tax department and she was given clean chit in each case.

“We don’t have any other material, so why should we go on registering another FIR?” Mr Rohatgi wondered according to the reports in the media.

Mayawati’s lawyer claims that the petitioner Kamlesh Verma is an ex-BSP party member and the case is nothing but political vendetta game.
