A piece of sad news is coming right from the Kakopathar, Assam. The respected personality and the principal of the Higher Secondary School and a famous author, Surrender Nath Dohutia, has reportedly lost his life lately. He survived his son and daughter. This phenomenon occurred on Saturday night, December 18, 2021. As per the reports, he was so old that he was experiencing old age morbidities. According to the media reports, he passed away at the age of 90 years. There is a rush outside of his residence as he had a huge list of well-wishers. He had not only served the society as a principal of a Higher Secondary School but also worked as the President of Tinsukia Zila Sahitya Sabha and the president of Asom Moran Sabha. He is also renowned as the founding father of the Kakopathar Sakha Sahitya Sabha; hence, he held the position of the president of the Kakopathar Sakha Sahitya Sabha for several years. He was of the view to help people through thick and thin. He submitted himself to society wholely. The news of his death has created an environment of grief among his family members, students and other close ones.

The death of such a generous personality is being mourned on a mass level in the entire district of Tinsukia. There are a number of people including his students and former colleagues who have come together to pay homage to this legendary personality. His dead body has been taken to the Higher Secondary School of Kakopothar, Assam before performing the funeral rites related to his crimination. There has gathered individuals on a large scale and also several organizations so that they may give a tribute to a worthy personality. He had such a helping nature that he helped everyone whether the person seeking help was his known or not.
It is said that he always believed in giving a second chance; therefore, he was there for all the downtrodden. He told several times that education is a means to break the chain of poverty and bring society on the track of harmony. To pay a tribute to Surrender Nath Dohutia, the traders of Kakopothar decided to close their shops till Sunday with the view to mark a sign of respect in the honoured Late Surrender Nath Dohutia.
