Tamil Nadu Forest Fire: Rescue Operation is On 9 People trekkers and 27 Rescued

As per the reports, 36 trekkers who got trapped in Sunday evening’s forest fire in Tamil Nadu are being rescued by the local authorities. Sources are saying that a sudden fire on Tamil Nadu’s Forest on Sunday evening took 9 lives. Also, the most of the trekkers were mostly students and were caught in a massive forest fire in Theni district. Some local reports are saying that Twenty seven people have been rescued and taken to hospital in Bodinaickanur

Now, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been pressed into service for rescue operations and the situation is quite in under control so far. Some local media reports are confirming that 9 trekkers have died on the post during the fire. Also, the reports are saying that students were climbing down the hills from Munnar in Kerala to Theni when they got trapped in the fire.

Also, the expedition was organized by a Chennai-based trekking club which had not taken permission from the forest department. Also, the Theni District Collector Pallavi Baldev said that the search was on for others and will try their best to cooperate with search teams. Also, she said, 24 trekkers from Chennai Trekking Club and 12 from Erode and Tiruppur had gone to the Kurangani Hills.

She said the trekking group consisted of eight men, 25 women, and three children.  Also, she added that “While the trekkers were coming down, they came across a forest fire and the group broke up.” Even, the defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “Ten commandos will move to Madurai by a helicopter from Sulur Air Force base and trek to the spot in the night. They will carry medicines and provide medical assistance to the injured,”
