Team India Coach Anil Kumble reveals how he got his nickname ‘Jumbo’

The Anil Kumble has been a stalwart with his different roles in the Indian Cricket since his debut way back in the year 1992. The “Jumbo” of Indian Cricket team has been the genuine match winner with the ball in hand.

Then, he was brilliant with his captaincy, although he was appointed a captain for a single year but is believed that it was because of the Anil Kumble strong stand against the Australian team management in 2008 when the ugly monkey gate incident was held.

Now, he is appointed to the new job of coaching the new looked Indian team which has the likes of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane. And he is getting the serious respect from all those players.

The new coach of Indian team is on the shores of Carribean with his team for preparing for the Test series against the West Indies. Meanwhile, Anil Kumble is his free time  is busy in interacting with his fans by the  live video chat with his fans.

Recently, when he was seen doing the video chat with one of his fans and suddenly his fan asked that how did he get the nickname “Jumbo”.

Then, Anil Kumble answered this question by describing the whole incident and who gave him his famous nickname “Jumbo”.

He told his fans that” Mr. Navjot  Sidhu had coined me with the Jumbo nickname. Actually, I was playing the Irani Cup Trophy for Rest of the Indian team at the Feroz Shah Kotla. And he was fielding at the mid on position. Suddenly, one ball which was hit by a batman took off to a serious height and then he Mr. Sidhu called me “Jumbo Jet”. Then, Jet get dropped and Jumbo became my nickname. And ever since, my teammates started calling me Jumbo”.

Well, its now looks like the new Indian Coach is getting into the full groves of his new students and has  started doing video interaction kind of stuff that he had never tried in his life.
