Telangana: 15-Year-Old Warangal’s Girl committed suicide after gang rape: An unfortunate incident took place in Telangana’s Warangal district, where a 15 year old girl took her own life at her home. This drastic incident took place a few days after she was allegedly gangraped by two of her friends. The girl was a class 9th student and she lived in Hanamkonda town, with her grandparents as her parents had earlier passed away.
Earlier on Saturday, the girl was picked up by one of the accused and taken to an isolated site. The police said that the girl did not suspect anything wrong as the accused who picked her was one of her friends. When they reach the place, another boy joined them and then they both boys sexually assaulted the minor and then dropped her back to her home in the evening. On the other hand, the girl’s family alleged that there were more than two boys who were involved in the crime.
The investigation is being carried out, for which the body of the girl was sent to the state-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Warangal for an autopsy. After post-mortem the body of the girl was handed over to the family.
The girl’s aunt told local reporters regarding the crime, “She came back home around 4 pm and was looking very dull. When we questioned her, she told us that 4 to 5 boys drugged her and behaved inappropriately with her. She said that we should file a case on them whether she (the minor) was alive or dead,”
The aunt further added, “Till 7 am on Sunday, she was talking to us just fine. But within a few hours, she took such an extreme step and killed herself at home.” She also demanded strict action against the accused.
The investigation has started and Kakatiya University police have filed the case under the Section 376 (Rape) including several other sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Circle Inspector David Raju said regarding the case, “There are only two accused in the crime and we have arrested both of them. One of the accused is a minor. Further investigation is on-going.”
The case comes just days after a Warangal court sentenced the death penalty to a rape accused. The accused was guilty for raping a 9-month-old baby, which was held on June 19, when Praveen, a resident of Hanamkonda in Warangal, kidnaped the girl when she was sleeping with her parents on their terrace. He took her to a quiet place and raped her and it then resulted in her death. The incident had triggered huge outrage with many people taking to the streets.
The police operated quickly in filing a chargesheet and there were many witnesses who came forward to give justice to the little girl, and the trial was completed in less than two months.
