Veteran Actor of Bengal Dipankar Dey joined TMC in Kolkata

A Veteran actor in the Kolkata-based Bengali Film Industry Dipankar Dey has joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Party on Friday morning in the presence of an actor and a party leader Mr. Bratya Basu at Trinamool Bhawan. He is just 76 years old and age is just a number, he proved this today.

After joining the party, Dipankar Babu said,” I ate salt. I can’t be dishonest”. He adds,” I have been close to the Trinamool for a long time. When I was sick, Mamata Banerjee sent Arup Biswas to see me. The Government has paid all the bills of the hospital. He gave me Bangabhushan and Bangabibhushan awards. I can’t be dishonest by eating salt”.

These two titles, Bangabhushan and Bangabibhushan awards are presented by the West Bengal Government to honor the services of state personalities where they have given their hard work in various fields.

Dipankar Dey started his career in the industry in 1971. Where he first appeared in Satyajit Ray’s Seemabaddha. Then, he appeared a second time in Jana Aranya in 1976 which was also directed by Satyajit Ray. Then, he became famous and gave his many roles in many movies. Ganashatru (Enemy of the People, 1990), Shakha Proshakha (Branches of the Tree, 1990), and Agantuk (The Stranger, 1991). Also, he has given his collaboration with many art house and commercial films.

Along with Dipankar Dey, other Bengali actors have joined the Trinamool Congress including a popular TV actor Bharat Kaul, and Lovely Mitra, both joined the party today. On the other side, Shaona Khan, a well-known musician and the daughter of the famous classical musician Ustad Rashid Khan joined the party as well.
