It’s a great start on a Monday as Avani Lekhara is the first Indian lady to win a Paralympic gold medal in Air Rifles. Everyone is proud of her. In the history of India, she will be the first who has bagged gold in the Paralympian games. For her remarkable achievement, many of the cricket group come forward and congratulate the athlete for her commendable performance in the paralympic games such as Virendra Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Wasim Jaffer, etc. She made it by winning in the  “10m  R-2 women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 competition”. Before that, she also made her position at 7th rank in the qualification round which was heading for the finals.

She is an Indian professional Paralympian and rifle shooter. The athlete was born on November 8, 2001, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. her height measurement is five feet three-inch (160cm). In 2018 she competed in the Asian Para Games. After that she won the summer paralympic in the year 2020, and recently on august 30th,2021 she bagged gold in women’s 10m air rifles. As a very energetic and enthusiastic player, she has been supported and carries forward in the para champion program by the Go Sports Foundation. she has been guided in the direction of Suma Siddharth Shirur.

In 2012, When she was 11 years old she met with an accident and was left paralyzed below down her waist. after a period of time, her fathers uplift and motivates her to join sports programs. then she gets her training in the field of Archery. But moving from there she found her true affection in the field of shooting and attached with it as her life carrier. Currently, she is pursuing her graduation in the Law stream from Rajasthan, India.

After her achievement in paralympic games, many comments are coming on social media platforms throughout the world to congratulate her for her tremendous contribution to the games. Now she becomes one of the valuable points pride of India before her Swimmer Murlikant Petkar won the medal in the year 1972 and after him, Devender Jhajharia won in the year 2004 and 2016 as a javelin thrower and in the year 2016 Meryappan Thangavelu won in the category of high jump.

Despite the 19-year-old young athlete’s several injuries on her spinal cord, she created a new paralympic record in which she made a world record of equalling 249.6. Well, congratulations to the athlete and the family. We wish to have more Sportsperson in the future like her.
