2 day before the Holi we all going to celebrate world water day maybe some of us don’t even know that what this day is and why we celebrate it so for those people I am going gave little information. First of all water is the base of our life we can’t survive with this and that’s I think you all know because you all know the importance of water.

And if you think water problem is nothing then read this facts carefully.

  • 884 million people in the world lack access to safe water supplies.
  • More than 840,000 people die each year from water-related disease.
  • Almost 2 in 3 people who need safe drinking water survive on less than $2 a day.
  • In many developing countries, millions of women spend several hours a day collecting water from distant, often polluted sources.
  • Every minute a child dies of a water-related disease.

Water is important for us, for our children’s even for every living thing and what we doing with it we are wasting and that’s the worst part of progress of human being.

History of World waters day-

World Water Day is an annual event celebrated on March 22. The day focuses attention on the importance of freshwater and advocates for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

This day was first formally proposed in Agenda 21 of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. In 1993, the first World Water Day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly and since, each year focuses on a different issue.

The UN and its member nations devote this day to implementing UN recommendations and promoting concrete activities within their countries regarding the world’s water resources. Additionally, a number of non-governmental organizations promoting clean water and sustainable aquatic habitats have used World Water Day as a time to focus attention on the critical issues of our era.

Events such as theatrical and musical celebrations, educational events, and campaigns to raise money for access to clean and affordable water are held worldwide on World Water Day, or on convenient dates close to March 22.

The occasion of World Water Day is also used to highlight required improvements for access to WASH (water, sanitation, hygiene) facilities in developing countries.

I think water is important for us and we should save this not only that day even after that day or each in every day.
