Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah loses son and heir, ‘Chikka sahebru’ Rakesh

Mysuru: On Saturday, the elder son of Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Rakesh Siddaramaiah breathed his last due to multiple organ failure. He was undergoing treatment for acute pancreatitis at Antwerp University Hospital, Brussels.

Rakesh turned 39 last week. He was in Brussels when he complained of acute stomach pain then he was rushed to a local hospital’s intensive care unit.

Earlier this week after hearing about Rakesh’s hospitalisation, Mr Siddaramaiah, wife Parvathi, Rakesh’s wife Smitha and younger brother Dr Yathindra rushed to Brussels. He was projected as the political heir of Mr Siddaramaiah.

The office of CM said that the dead body of Rakesh would be flown to Mysuru from Brussels Sunday evening and laid to rest at the farm house of Mr Siddaramaiah at T. Katur village on Monday afternoon.

B.J. Vijaykumar who is district Congress President said that Rakesh was a simple plain man, without ego. Rakesh was secular and treated everyone equally. He was very affectionate of party workers and people from Mysuru district especially. He was innocent at heart and did not know what cheating was.

Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reportedly directed the Indian mission at Brussels to help the Chief Minister’s family. PM Modi tweeted that My thoughts are with Siddaramaiahji and his family on the demise of his son.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi said that May God give the family the strength to bear the irreparable loss. The congress vice president Rahul Gandhi also tweeted that My heartfelt condolences to Siddaramaiahji on the passing away of his son. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this time of grief.
