On Sunday, The Political Affairs Committee of AAP appointed actor and satirist Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi as Convener of AAP of Punjab unit in place of Sucha Singh Chhotepur. Recently, Sucha Singh Chhotepur was terminated from the post on the charges of corruption.
After a video clip showed him allegedly accepting money from a party volunteer in exchange of poll tickets, Sucha Singh Chhotepur was sacked. The action was taken against him on 26th August 2016.
As per the party released said that Actor Ghuggi joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the month of February 2016. He will take charge soon.
Little about Gurpreet Ghuggi:
Gurpreet Ghuggi started his career as a Punjabi actor in Jalandhar DD Tele-films. Ghuggi received much attention only after participating in the reality show – The Great Indian Laughter Challenge on Star One TV.
Later, He appeared in another show Hans Baliye on Star One TV with his wife Kuljeet Kaur and won the contest. Gurpreet has acted as a comedian in Punjabi movies and Bollywood movies such as – Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Singh is Kinng, Singh is Bling, Namastey London, Race, Mera Pind, Munde UK De, Jijja Ji, Yaara Naal Bahaara, Asa NU Maan Watna Da, Speedy Singhs, Tera Mera Ki Rishta, and Jag Jeondeyan De Mele.
Gurpreet Ghuggi has also appeared in the live shows as such – Vaisakhi Mela 2009(along with Sukhshinder Shinda and Jazzy B, Shounki Mela 2003 (along with Kamal Heer, Manmohan Waris and Sangtar) and Vaisakhi Mela 2010 (along with Master Saleem, Nachatter Gill, and others).
Ghuggi played the role of Sundeep Cheema in the Punjabi movie “Paaji in Trouble” (later renamed to Bhaji in Problem) with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. He recently joined Aam Aadmi Party. Currently, he resides in Jalandhar, Punjab.
