A man has been charged for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter after a fight with his wife. On Thursday evening, the mother approached the police and lodged a complaint against him. The accused, who is absconding, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the complainant, the family hails from Palwal and lives on rent in the DLF 3 area in Gurugram. The 39-year-old accused is a driver while his wife works as a domestic help.
The mother told, “On April 19, he came home in an inebriated state and we had a fight. He hit my head with a bottle, but I escaped with an injury. He went to the terrace in a rage and later asked my daughter to serve him dinner. The next morning, my daughter told me that he had raped her. I confronted him but he ran away. I tried calling him multiple times but he did not receive my calls. On Thursday, I called him again but he started threatening me, saying that he will assault our daughter again. So finally, I approached the police.”
The girl was counseled by police and then a case was registered against her father under Section 6 of the POCSO Act at the DLF 3 police station.
Police said that the accused worked as the driver of a milk truck and was living in the DLF 3 area with his family for the past few years. They further added, “He is an alcoholic and used to thrash his wife and daughter on a regular basis.”
Inspector Ram Kumar, the SHO of the DLF 3 police station said, “The girl told her mother about the rape on April 20, but her mother filed a complaint on Thursday evening. An FIR has been registered and the girl was rushed to the General Hospital in Civil Lines for a medical examination, where doctors confirmed the rape. During her counseling, the girl repeated her claims after which we initiated raids to arrest her father. We hope that he will be arrested as soon as possible.”
After a medical examination that confirmed rape, she was produced in a city court on Friday for recording her statement under Section 164 of CrPC. In the court as well, she repeated her claim that her father had raped her.
