Once again the 36-year-old professional soccer player of America, Megan Anna Rapinoe has become the talk of the town, earlier for her purple hair, and now for her anti-American gesture. Well, recently at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, Rapinoe was once again seen kneeling during the American National Anthem that has angered the citizen of American as well as the numerous franchisees of Subway who are asking Rapinoe be pulled off from the ads of the Subway. Meanwhile, at the same time, the hashtag Boycott Subway is also quite trending in social media, where people are demanding Rapinoe departure from all the ads and future endorsement of Subway.
A couple of weeks ago, the American conservative author, activist and political commenter, Candace Owens had openly called Rapinoe a piece of trash following her performance at the Olympics. Not only Owens concluded the soccer player an anti-American, the former president of America, Donald Trump also pointed at her purple hair as well as a raised questions about her soccer skills.
For those who do not know, this is not the first time that soccer star Rapinoe has been seen kneeling during the time of national anthem, but back in 2016 during a game in Chicago when OL Reign was playing against Red Stars, she knelt during the American national anthem along with San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick. The two American professional football teams along with Rapinoe refused to stand in the national anthem in order to object to racial injustice and minority domination. In addition, she later continued to kneel on several multiple occasions.
However, this time, her action has deeply hurt the sentiments of the true American and in a way, they are not going to just seat and let the soccer player disgrace their country with her kneeling actions during the national anthem. Even if she wants to display her objection over racial justice, there are several other ways, however, kneeling throughout the anthem in no way can be counted as righteous in any manner. North American Associaton Subway Franchises are strictly against this and therefore they have directed action from the side of the parent company against the soccer star, Rapinoe.
Boycott Subway is also trending on social media and many franchises and outlets of the Subway including the Wisconsin one are receiving notes suggesting a boycott until the parent company cuts off ties with Rapinoe. Not long ago, in the 2019 World Cup final, the Redding born soccer player and captain of OL Reign, Rapinoe stomped on the American Flag and in a carefree manner walked out. However, looks like the outraged public of American are not going to let this matter close that easily and it looks like the SUBWAY is planning to pull off all the advertisement of Rapinoe and all the future endorsement with her.
