Asif Ali Menon, the Director of Common of the Karachi Growth Authority (KDA), has been alleged for being involved in the embezzlement of a plot in Gulistan-e -Jahan and also in the Korangi district of Karachi. He has been arrested on Thursday, 30th December 2021 by the anti-Corruption Institute (ACE). As per the given statement of the concerned officer of ACE, the decision of arrest was taken by then after an assembly of competent authority ACC-I therein the permission to arrest Asif Ali Menon was taken on December 29, 2021.
This incident is marking a negative impression of the public image of KDA as well as the Director Common of KDA. The investigation is taking place, as of now, it has been alleged that KDA misused the power given to it as an authority by the federal government. The Director has subordinated his officers named Shaikh Fareed, Muhammad Zubair and Atif Ahmed Khan are AD – KDA Resolution Division Karachi, AD – KDA Resolution Division Karachi and AD – KDA Land Division respectively for being under the suspension on the account of accusation. These allegations are enough to sack off all of the accused to ruin their professional career. This news has become the talk of the town.

On the other hand, this case has hiked in the international media as some of the officers signed the documents even after their suspension. This list has included Shaikh Fareed, Atif Ahmed Khan and Muhammad Zubair. This is a serious issue for not only the accused but also the higher authorities of Pakistan. This has put the system of Pakistan under question. This not happening for the first time in the history of any country that any officer has misused the powers. This has become a serious concern for the respected authority to give such a punishment that no one may repeat such a big misuse of the given powers in the future.
This case has been highlighted by not only the Pakistani media but also the international media that has been decaying the international image of Pakistan because there are higher officers who have been found accused with the charges of misusing power. Pakistan law and enforcement agencies are in the view of media, they are thereby supposed to take some stiff actions in the context of this case.
