‘Don’t interfere’ India Response to Turkish Prez Erdogan after Kashmir comment

On Saturday, India has criticised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his comments on Kashmir and asked him not to interfere in internal affairs of India. Furthermore, India also asked him to “develop proper understanding of facts including threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan”.

India Response to Turkish Prez Erdogan after Kashmir comment

The brief message came from the Ministry of External Affairs after Erdogan on Friday once again scraped up the Kashmir matter and promised that Ankara would support the stand of Pakistan as it is a matter of concern to both the nations.

Erdogan, who also spoke on a joint session of Pakistan’s Parliament, also said that Turkey is going to support Pakistan in its efforts to come out of the Grey List of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) which is meeting this week in Paris.

In the response for this, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar also stated, “India rejects all references to Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and inalienable part of India.”

He added, “We call upon the Turkish leadership to not interfere in India’s internal affairs and develop proper understanding of the facts, including the grave threat posed by terrorism emanating from Pakistan to India and the region.”

The statement by Erdogan came on a day when India observed the first anniversary of the Pulwama suicide bombing that was conducted by the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad where 40 troopers of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed in Pulwama in Jammu on Kashmir.

“Kashmiri brothers have been living under difficult circumstances over the years, but the recent unilateral steps of India have added to their woes and the situation there has become alarming. Depriving Kashmiris of their freedom and usurping their rights is not in anybody’s interest,” Erdogan said in his speech, while referring to the moves taken by India to revoke the special status to Kashmir along with imposing restrictions on communications and the Internet in the region.

As per to a report on the website of Pakistan’s “The News”, “President Erdogan maintained that Kashmir problem could be solved only on just and equitable basis rather than through conflict and oppression and such a solution will serve the benefits of all parties. He said Turkey will continue to stand on the side of justice, peace and solution through dialogue concerning the Kashmir dispute.”

In the meantime, Turkey, China and Malaysia have been critical of India’s move to integrate Kashmir with the rest of the nation. On the other hand, the rest of the international community have generally accepted the situation though they have raised some concern over the limits on communication in place since the month of August.
