The fantasy drama series ‘His Dark Materials‘ is based on the novel of the same name by Philip Pullman. The adventurous and mysterious series is all set to be renewed for the second season after the success of the first one. The production company Bad Wolf is forced to cut an episode from the second season of the series due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The executive producer ‘Jane Tranter’ has declared that the new season will have seven episodes at the place of eight. Jane Tranter said that they are happy and as well lucky because they have shot almost all the episodes except one when the pandemic hit the earth.

The first season had a total of eight episodes and featuring an ensemble cast that includes Dafne Keen in the role of Lyra Belacqua, Ruth Wilson in the role of Marisa Coulter, Anne-Marie Duff in the role of Ma Costa, Clarke Peters in the role of The Master of Jordan College, James Cosmo in the role of Farder Coram, Ariyon Bakare in the role of Lord Carlo Boreal, Will Keen in the role of Father MacPhail, Lucian Msamati in the role of John Faa, Gary Lewis in the role of Thorold among others. The season 2 will be renewed where the last first season ended. We have seen Lyra was betrayed by her own father. This second season will be based on “The Subtle Knife”. As per the reports, almost all the character will be reprising their roles but Lord Asriel is not on that list.
The makers seem quite happy as they have done shooting for seven seasons of the series just before a day from the pandemic. They were supposed to have eight episodes in this season also but it seems tough in this situation. We can suppose the third season on that list.
