A crash followed by a fuel tanker explosion took place yesterday, that is, on Sunday afternoon, 1st August 2021 in the Davie town along the Interstate-595 in Broward County in Florida in the United States, killing the driver of the truck that was carrying the fuel. As per the initial reports, the 53-year old driver of the fuel tanker was driving towards the west on the I-595 entrance ramp toward the southbound lane of Florida’s Turnpike toll road, when he eventually lost control and bumped the concrete wall. The truck however did not stop there and moved forward, and ultimately landed in the grass below on the roof of the truck.

As per the Florida Highway Patrol officials, the truck driver was caught inside and struggled to get out from it and then the truck caught fire, followed by an explosion. Thus, the driver died on the spot. Meanwhile, the FHP is further investigating the case and also trying to find out the real cause behind the fatal accident. Moreover, it has been reported by the Florida police officials, that the toll road will remain close for the time being and at the same time, they have urged the citizen of Florida to avoid the incident area as much as possible, due to environmental concerns.
It has been reported by the Florida police officials, that the fuel tank contained a total of 8,000 gallons of fuel and is assumed to have spilled near a lake, which is a huge concern. The department of Environmental Protection also went on the incident scene, who then collected the soil sample, so that they can examine how much the lake has been contaminated by the fuel. Davie Fire Incident Commander, Robert De Ferdinando has stated that none of the fuel has been spilled to the lake, thus, there is nothing to worry about.
Meanwhile, a video of the fuel tanker explosion is also surfacing on the internet, in which one could clearly see that the huge crest of smoke in Davie Town. The video has been taken by a motorist named, Xia Fermin who also stated that he has never seen so much smoke in his entire life until he saw an enormous fire on the south side of Interstate 595 just east of Davie. Talking about the furious and enraged flames and immense plums of smoke into the atmosphere, Fermin further added it looked like he was driving into the fire himself. However, everybody was slowing down so he literally had to drive next to it.
