Around 430 people rescued and 8 died after the rockslide occurred near the Indian-China border in the district of Chamoli in Uttarakhand. The incident happened on Friday. The rockslide occurred after a big part of the glacier fall down on the road of Sumna on the Sumna-Rimkhim road. On the road, the labourers were maintaining the road constructions. After the incident, the rescue operation was started by the Indian Army and around 430 people including workers and local people have been rescued from the incident sites by the Indian Army. Along with this, six unknown identities have found in critical condition and they all are being treated at the Army camp. The official news said that the Joshimath’s teams of the Border team clean the way from the Bhapkund to Sumna and it is expected to take more than 6-8 hours. The area was suffering from heavy rain and snowfall for the last five days. The rescue operation was started by the Indian Army immediately and Rescuers are trying to locate the rest of the labourers at both cantonments, said army officials.

In the last tweet, the Indian army said,” 384 BRO have been rescued and moved to the safest place. Eight dead bodies have been recovered from the two camps of BRO. While six critically injured person have also found from the site. Air sorties are being ventured to take medical help. Rescue operation of Indian Army is underway continuously”.

It is important to keeping road connectivity in the incident area because it provided access to the further location like the Barahoti area that always keeps on their eyes on the border that also examines the changes from the Chinese area. Well, Barahoti is 80 kilometres of the square area which is also connected with the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China in the district of Chamoli of Uttarakhand. Also, Chamoli district is approx. 400 KM away from the capital of Uttarakhand, Dehradun and also, 100 KM away from Joshimath, which is also a headquarters of the brigade.

In February, an incident of glacier took place at Joshimath in Chamoli district, where a massive flood leading to the Dhauli Ganga river and also, caused lots of areas. While the flood damaged the two-state big hydroelectric projects. On that incident, around 50 dead bodies were found and many declared missing during the incident. Now, the rescue operation is going on the incident sites and many people have lots their lives and family as well.
