International Girls in ICT Day is observed every year on the fourth Thursday of April. The day is an initiative supported by all ITU Member States in ITU Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Rev. Dubai, 2018), which intends to inspire and empower girls and young women to consider education and careers in the rising field of ICTs, allowing both girls and technology corporations to gain the benefits of larger female contribution in the ICT sector.
International Girls in ICT Day 2019
This year, in 2019 the International Girls in ICT Day is going to be celebrated on 25 April 2019. The ITU Secretary General invites ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academia to start up the events drawing attentions of a lot of girls and young women as possible.
International Girls in ICT Day Celebration
By now, more than 357,000 girls and young women have taken part in more than 11,100 festivities of International Girls in ICT Day in total number of 171 nations internationally. Government ministries, national ICT regulatory experts, ICT corporations, educational institutes, UN agencies, and NGOs around the world are all stimulated to join the worldwide effort and to rejoice International Girls in ICT Day.
In 2019, ITU is going to celebrate the International Girls in ICT Day in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event will also going to help to enable girls, technology businesses, economies and societies to have the benefits of greater female partaking in a more wide-ranging ICT sector.
