Commercial Flight: New Shepard

The selling of commercial tickets for New Shepard started in the year 2021. On 12th June 2021, the very first seat of a commercial flight was auctioned for sale at a cost of US$28 million that will go to the foundation of Blue Origin. It has been reported the Blue Origin is intending to carry crew and passengers for the first time on their next mission named, “NS 16” which is scheduled to take place on 20th July 2021.

  • Jeff Bezos, founder of Blue Origin
  • Mark Bezos, brother of Jeff
  • Wally Funk, Commercial astronaut & Goodwill Ambassador
  • Oliver Daeman, Physics Students

These are the four people that will be going to travel into space and being the Karman line for the first time. The 82-year-old Funk would become the oldest person to travel into space beyond the Karman line while the 18-year old Daeman, would become the youngest person. The commercial ticket price of Oliver has not been unveiled yet, however, it is for sure, that the boy has a good background.

Oliver initially resides in Netherland and is pursuing Physics. It is not a surprise that he desperately wanted to join the spaceflight of Jeff, looking at his interest in the field of physics. Oliver’s father, Joes is a founder and also the CEO of a private equity firm named, Somerset Capital Partners. If we take a look at the Somerset Capital partner website, we will get to know that before becoming the CEO of an equity firm, Joes worked as a broker in the securities market.

He later focussed on private equity accompanied by real estate development and investments and later in the year 2009, Joes started his own hedge fund named, “Somerset Capital Partners Value Fund.” While his mother, Eline Daemen Dekker is also an ambassador at his father’s equity firm and although the price of the tickets has not been revealed yet, one can clearly estimate the price of the commercial ticket for Spaceflight. Well, Oliver is extremely excited to experience zero-g and see the word from above. Stay tuned with us.
