Kumbh Mela 2019: Devotees gathered at Sangam Ghat on Maghi Purnima: The 2019 Prayagraj Ardh Kumbh Mela is the Ardh Kumbh Mela which was started on January 15 at Triveni Sangam in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India and will held till 4 March 2019.

On Maghi Purnima, Lakhs Of Devotees At Kumbh Take Holy Bath

On February 19 morning, the fifth bathing festival of Maghi Purnima began at Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. In order to pray and to take the holy dip on the occasion, huge number of devotees and tourists were observed getting to the Sangam Ghat.

Limitations on the traffic have been imposed on Tuesday in the view of controlling the heavy rush of the devotees and the tourists. Entrance of heavyweight vehicles has been constrained into the district as well as all types of vehicles together with pass holders are banned to move in the Mela. Only vehicles that are allied to vital services, media and management are being permitted.

A bill was approved in Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly to organise the Allahabad Mela Authority, a long-lasting body to supervise the mela. The divisional command of Allahabad assists its presiding officer while the district magistrate as well as inspector general of police as the vice -chairpersons. The officers of the Mela and further district officials are also the associates of this authority.

The gathering on Tuesday was the second largest provisional of the Kumbh to leave the Mela preceding to Mahashivratri. The management in Uttar Pradesh has established 40 bathing ghats for devotees that are eight kilometres long.

The security measurements are also taken care of with further central para military armed forces being positioned. Only the old bridge on Yamuna is open for traffic flow and the two of the two of the bridges on Ganga and Yamuna Rivers have been closed for rush-hour traffic.

Further added watch towers have been set up with public address arrangement to standardize the rush of devotees.

According to the orders of Allahabad High court, photography is not being permissible in the interior of 100 feet proximity of bathing ghats, said by administration. Also the educational institutions in Prayagraj have been closed for the occasion for three consecutive days.

The management has also arranged magistrates and police officers at sensitive areas for avoiding gathering of devotees at one place in the surrounding area.

Kumbh Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimage of devotion in which Hindus gather in order to bathe in a sacred or holy river. By tradition there are four fairs which are generally acknowledged as the Kumbh Melas such as the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, Haridwar Kumbh Mela, the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha and Ujjain Simhastha. All of these four fairs are held from time to time at one of the following places by rotation such as Allahabad (Prayagraj), Haridwar, Nashik district (Nashik and Trimbak), and Ujjain.
