To bring some positivity amid this on-going hard time, Chess.com has organized a Checkmate fundraiser event to fight against COVID-19. This event featured many well-known personalities such as Sudeepa Khicha, Sajid Nadiadwala, Nikhil Kamath, Yuzvendra Chahal, Riteish Deshmukh and the five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand as well. Viswanathan Anand competed in two batches of chess at the same time.

In the second batch, Viswanathan also won against Aamir Khan, Anaya Birla, Arijit Singh, and Manu Kumar Jain. However, in first batch he competed against Nikhil Kamath in that event but the result surprised everyone. And now, Nikhil Kamath has been banned from Chess.com.

It all started when Nikhil Kamath defeated the popular and award-winning professional Chess player Vishwanathan Anand in a charity fundraiser event. This online event was held by Chess.com for fundraising and when Nikhil Kamath defeated the legendary player Vishwanathan Anand, it created a lot of buzz on social media while many also speculated that something is off.

As this matter was getting a lot of hype, Nikhil issued a statement recently on which he revealed that there’s no way he can win over Vishwanathan Anand who is a legendary chess player. He accepted that he took some help from people who were analysing the game. He said that he just wanted to have a fun and learning experience with Vishwanathan Anand and didn’t realised that it will cause confusion and apologise on the same matter.

As soon as Chess.com realised that Kamat has violated the fair-play policy rule of their online gaming platform, they have suspended his account for violating their policy. Danny Rensch, who is the Chess.com Chief Chess Officer has also issued an official statement regarding the cheating controversy held on their platform. He said in the official statement that the main aim of their platform is to host fair played matches. In this matter, their team of experts have reviewed the match and found out that the violation has been made during the fundraising event due to which they are banning the account. The statement further reads that Chess.com will ensure more safety so that its users don’t face any inconvenience further and have joyful experience with them on their platform.
