The former political advisor and the chief of staff of Australia, Peta Credlin has been appointed as the new Officer of the Orders of Australia (AO) in the honours of Queen’s Birthday on Monday. Also known as the right-hand women of Tony Abbott, Credlin has been a great political advisor and has played a significant role in Australian politics under the leadership of PM Abbott. She has served as the Chief of Staff under the Australian Prime minister for two years from 2013 to 2015 and thereafter, she was seen hosting the popular Australian TV news, Credlin which broadcast every weekend on the original network of Sky News Australia.
She has her fair share of criticism and lived quite a controversial life throughout her journey as a journalist and also an advisor. The position given to Credlin is regarded as the second-highest ranking under the honours system for her spectacular contribution to the politics of Australia. David Hurley the governor-general of Australia, the order of Australia (AO) is awarded to the one who has given a distinguishable service of high degree to the Australian community or to humanity at large under the general division.
Thus, Credlin has been made an AO for her distinguished service to politics and parliament, and also her efforts in the development of policy and also executing the function of the Australian government. In the year 2021, a total of 947 people have been honoured as an AO and the surprising thing is that out of these people, 44% of the recipients are women, which is the highest in the history of Australian politics. Credlin has always been a controversial figure in the politics of Australia and commentary and has recieve several criticisms. In the year 2020, she apologised on TV after falsely blaming the South Sudanese Community of Melbourne for spreading the Wuhan Virus pandemic based on a sham report.
In the Tv show, she was seen saying that the new migrants urgently required to learn the English language and wrong claimed that the restriction implemented during the lockdown have been violated by the Sudanese community during the Ramadan feast. Whereas, it was later found out that most of the people in the South Sudanese community and is in fact Christain and not Muslim. Her controversial list is quite long, as earlier this year, she was seen falsely accusing that Kevin Rudd, the former Labor Prime minister of a data harvesting exercise and for which she later made an air apology.
