Senior RSS pracharak P Parameswaran Passes Away at Age of 93

Today, India has lost one of the senior-most ‘pracharaks’ (Promoter) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), P Parameswaran. He passed away in the early hours of Sunday at the age of 91.

P Parameswaran was also the former leader of the erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sang and was the founder-director of the Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram.

In the early hours of Sunday, he took his last breath at 12.10 am, at that time he was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment at Ottappalam in the Palakkad district of Kerala, as per to the sources.

He was born in the year 1927 in Muhamma, Alappuzha district, and for the duration of his student days, he joined the RSS. Sangh Parivar and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders used to fondly call him Parameswar ji.

Parameswaran, who had worked with leaders such as Deendayal Upadhyaya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani for the period of the Jana Sangh days, was also in 2018, he was privileged with Padma Vibhushan, which is considered to be the second-highest civilian award of the country and Padma Shri in 2004.

For the period of the days of Emergency, he courted arrest as part of the all India Satyagraha against it as well as he was also jailed for 16 months. Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram was well-known by Parameswaran in 1982 “to promote nationalist thoughts among Keralites”.

He was a creative writer, poet, researcher as well as a RSS ideologue and was highly respected all around India. In the time session of 1967 to 1971, he was the Bharatiya Jana Sangh’s secretary and the vice president from 1971 to 1977, as well as the director of the Deendayal Research Institute (1977-1982), New Delhi.

In the meantime, his body is going to be brought to the RSS headquarters in Kochi on Sunday morning where the people will pay their last respects. The cremation is going to be held in Muhamma in the evening, according to the sources report.

Parameshwaran has also won several awards and recognitions. He was also appointed as the member of the Court (Senate) of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in the year 2000. Sri. Parameshwaran has also authored many books on Indian philosophy and society.
