Sheila Dikshit’s body was taken to the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee’s office for the last time, the place that was central to her politics since 1998.
Dikshit had led the DPCC in 1998 against the then formidable city unit of the BJP and ensured victory for her party. Her winning streak continued uninterrupted from 1998-2013 until she faced a drubbing at the hands of the Aam Aadmi Party.
“For over 15 years, we saw Delhi flourishing every day. The amount of greenary and infrastructure that Delhi has today is because of Dikshitji,” said Jagdish Sharma, a party worker.
Thousands of men and women paid their respects to veteran Congress leader and former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday as her mortal remains were taken to the Nigambodh Ghat.

The truck carrying the casket moved slowly as the road was packed with supporters who chanted ‘Jab tak suraj chand rahega Sheila ji ka naam rahega’.
Congress workers jostled to have a glimpse of their leader as the body was brought in a glass casket from her Nizaumuddin residence to the party headquarters.

The mortal remains will be kept at Congress headquarters at 11.30am to allow people to pay tribute. A funeral procession will be organised from Congress headquarters till Nigambodh Ghat where cremation will take place at 2.30pm.
She served in Delhi as a Chief Minister for more than 15 years and has done a great job from 1998 to 2013. She is an inspiration for Indian people and most importantly she is an inspiration for all the women out there. Former CM Sheila Dikshit will be accorded a state funeral today. Reports are coming that her last rites will take place at Nigambodh Ghat around 2:30 pm. The Delhi government had declared two-day mourning in the national capital as a mark of respect for her.

Now the reports are coming that the ambulance broke down at AICC headquarters for a half & hour. It has been repaired and has left for DPCC.
