Narrating the whole incident, DCP Yadav further stated that on 28th July 2021, that is, on Wednesday, the police control room (PCR) got a call from the victim, named, Jitesh who is reported to be the owner of the Hyundai Creta. Jitesh notified the police that he had placed his vehicle at the K-block parking area of Connaught place, however, when he came back after completing his work, he discovered that the parking employee had given his car to someone else. Meanwhile, as per the parking attendant, the fake owner came up to him and told the staff that his parking receipt had been lost and thereafter, he took the car from the parking area. Upon the receiving complaint, the New Delhi police officials registered an FIR at the CP police station and thereafter began their investigation. Yadav then added, “We formed numerous police teams, who were then asked to examine the CCTV footage of the area where the incident took place.”

Meanwhile, one of their team went to the parking attendant of the K-block Parking lot and informed him about the method through which they are going to catch the accused. The police did a pretty good job as on 5th August 2021, Kumar was once again spotted at the H- block parking lot. The 22-year old accused returned once again to steal another vehicle on 5th August 2021 and once again asked the staff to give him the keys by stating that he had lost his parking slip. However, this time, one of the staff immediately notified the beat staff.

The police team instantly arrived, however, after seeing the police officer, Kumar decided to leave, yet, the officials were quick enough and ultimately captured him. During the interrogation, Kumar admitted that it was indeed him who stole the Hyundai Creat on 28th July and later placed it at the Railway colony in Doctor Lane. He was later produced in front of the Delhi Court and has been sent under legal custody for 14 days.
