Indian Wrestler, Priya Malik makes the nation proud by becoming the first Indian athlete to win Gold Medal in the World Wrestling Championship in Budapest, Hungary on 25th July 2021, Sunday. This news has definitely surged a sense of pride in the heart of all the Indians, and especially after the winning of Mirabai Chanu in the Tokyo Olympics, it has certainly made everyone’s day. The victory of Malik in the World Cadet Wrestling is being celebrated by everyone on social media.
Moreover, her impeccable and consistent performance throughout the championship has surely earned immense praise from everybody. Priya Mallik won the gold medal in the world wrestling women’s championship under the 73kg weight category in the final round, defeating wrestler Kseniya Patapovich of Belarus by 5-0.
About Priya Malik
Priya Malik is from Jind city of Haryana, Indian and is a student of Choudhary Bharat Singh Memorial School. Whereas her father named, Jayabhagwan Nidani is a retired Indian army personnel. Before winning a medal at the world wrestling championship, she took part in the Khelo India 2019, which took place in Pune in the year 2019. The wrestler won a gold medal there and in the same year, also went on to secures gold at the 17th edition of the School Games that took place in Delhi.
Meanwhile, in addition to these victories, she also succeeded in conquered two more gold medals in her record in the year 2020 at the National School Games and National Cadet Championship in Patna City. Moreover, with her winning the World Wrestling Championships, she became the first Indian athlete to secure a gold medal.
However, due to the confusion, many of her fans around the country have wrongly entitled her an Olympic Gold medalist over the internet. Nonetheless, when we have such talented, determined and hardworking athletes like Malik in our country, anything which seems next to impossible is possible. Thus, the next edition of the Olympic Games that is scheduled to take place in 2021 and be hosted in Paris, Priya Mallik could be one of her next hopes.
Recently, Weightlifter, Mirabai Chanu won the first medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics with a silver in women’s 49kg weight category, however, there is still a long wait for a gold medal.
