The extremely popular content-sharing platform, OnlyFans is reported to be prohibiting sexually x-rated content from their policies permanently. It is quite astonishing and at the same time immensely intriguing as what lead the platform to take such a big step. Everyone knows that this streaming online platform is in fact famous mainly because of the availability of adult content, then what exactly happened all of a sudden. Well on Thursday, 19th August 2021, the platform told Bloomberg that, “the company will prohibit creators from uploading material that contains x-rated conduct on its website.”
OnlyFans To Ban Sexually X-Rated Content: Reason
Well, many of you might know that OnlyFans are also used by escorts and people who are involved in the business of prostitution to sell fans explicit content. As per the initial reports, the company is planning to seek funds worth $1 billion from some outside investors and thus, it is said that this is one of the reasons why the company is taking such a big step.
Moreover, as per one of the spokespeople of OnlyFans, this request has been put forward by their banking partners as well as by the companies that are reported to be responsible for handling their financial and monetary transactions.
OnlyFans To Ban Sexually X-Rated Content: Beginning in October
The ban is reported to taking effect from 1st October 2021. Furthermore, it has been stated from the side of the company, nudity shall be permitted subject to company policies. As long as the content posted by the creators are respecting and matching the standards and policies of the company, it will be okay.
However, if the content clashes and does not fit the conditions termed by the company, it would be banned from OnlyFans. As of now, it is still not clear what the policy is, however, the company is reported to be briefing about the same in the coming days.
Twitter Reaction
The Ban of Sexually explicit content from the OnlyFans platform is also receiving a lot of reactions on Twitter. Many users have also begun to compare this step of Only Fans quite similar to Tumblr. One of the Twitter users wrote, “I do not understand why Only fans think people will look at their app if they ban nudity.”
The same user further continued “Tumblr too banned explicit content, resulting in less traffic on the site. Payment processors trying to dictate mortality is ridiculous.” Another user wrote, “So it is just going to switch into Twitch.” While one user wrote, “Honestly, I think this step of Onlyfans is likely going to kill the site because I do not know anything only fans can do that Patreon can not do after this.”
