On Friday, around 17 people were killed and several others injured when a private bus fell into a gorge near Namli town in the Ratlam district today, the local police said.
Ratlam Superintendent of Police – Avinash Sharma said that so far 17 persons have been found dead in the ill-fated bus that fell into the gorge.
When the mishap took place, the private bus was on its way from Ratlam to Mandsaur.
As per the statement of eyewitnesses that the bus was moving on a high speed and suddenly it overturned and drive lost the control over the bust and then the bus fell into the gorge filled with water.
However, SP of Ratlam said that the figure of killed people is not correct right now. Unconfirmed reports said that there were 40-45 passengers in the bus.
Police said that the rescue operation is on to pull the bus out of the gorge with the help of local residents. The injured people has immediately shifted to the nearby hospital for the treatment.
Senior officials have rushed to the spot and further details are awaited.
