On the same evening, sometimes later, when most of the people had gone home, a man appeared with a water bottle and started washing the chalk messages off the footpaths. This man looked so much busy in doing this that he did not notice two people coming in his direction. In the short clip, a woman named, Lauren Sorensen was seen questioning the man what he was doing to which he responds “Faggots go to Hell.” Talking about this incident, Sorensen stated that they witnessed everything from their own eyes and to say that they were certainly disturbed would be an understatement.

On Friday, 27th August 2021, Sorensen narrated the whole incident, including the one that was not captured by them in the video. “I and my friend Anthony Guth was strolling around staring at the chalk art when the incident happened.” Sorensen further clarified that both she and her friend were not from Brigham Young University, however, they still visited the event that was held in the support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Guth who too was present at the time of the incident alongside Sorensen added, “He and his friend, Amber, they were just crawling around and reading all kind of positive and overwhelming messages in support of the queer community. Then this kid walks up with a bottle of water and started washing the chalk messages and upon asking what he was doing, he just rudely responded. It was tortuously disturbing.”

Sorensen though managed to record the incident on her phone camera and later posted the same on the Tiktok. This video has been watched over 200K times and has also been reshared 100 times on several social media platforms. Talking about the video, Sorensen added, she is immensely proud of the students of BYU who came forward to show their support for the LGBTQ students. Meanwhile, Brigham Young University (BYU) has also released an official statement strongly condemning the actions and slurs heard in the video.
