As per the latest reports, singer-rapper Badshah has been grilled by Mumbai Police for over 9 hours on Friday in the connection with fake followers racket on social media. As per the official reports, the singer was being inquired by the police in the connections of creating fake followers and selling fake followers and likes over the posts. On Friday, around 12:30 PM Badshah arrived at the office of Crime Intelligence Unit where he was investigated by the officers over 9 hours and stepped out of the office around 9:45 PM at night.
The CIU began examining these rackets when the Bollywood actress Bhumi Trivedi got to know that someone has made her fake profile on social media then she complained about it to the Mumbai Police. During the investigation, the Police tore down the racket that sells fake social media accounts, followers and likes. The reason behind increasing followers and likes is that the person who has more social media followers are hired by celebrities or big company’s who pays to them for endorsing their products through their social media handle.
Till now, the police have registered the complaint of over 20 people and still, it hasn’t come to the end. Senior police officials said that it is a big issue in the society as it can be used to spread wrong information or to mislead netizens. In this generation, social media is one of the biggest arms to harm someone as we know everything has two sides and just like this people are using the wrong side too along with the good side.
As per the reports, the Mumbai crime branch can also summon Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone to inquire about the case. There are many people including celebrities, sports personalities and high profile builders have been alleged to buy fake followers on social media.
