Before celebrating any day it is necessary to know about the history of the day. Teacher’s day is celebrated worldwide and for several reasons. In India, we celebrate this day on 5th September since 1962 to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan who was the second president of our nation. The day is celebrated by both teachers and students, they appreciate their masters as thanksgiving for being a guide or pathfinder of their lives.
Teacher’s Day around the World 2022
In many countries across the world teacher’s day is celebrated as for various reasons:-
- Afganistan- All the Schools are closed due to holiday but all the students and teachers gather to celebrate via traditional dishes, cookies, music, and students present gifts to the teachers.
- Bhutan – To commemorate the birth anniversary of the third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, who introduced modern education to the country.
- Brazil – Established by a decree regulating elementary schools in Brazil. The celebration gained popularity throughout the country, and October 15 was officially designated Teachers’ Day in 1963.
- Iran – The Islamic Republic government changed the former date to coincide with the assassination of Dr Morteza Motahhari on 1 May 1979.
- Venezuela – On this day there are no classes. During the week all the teachers are honoured for their support in building the country.
