Haryana’s Chief Minister says, Girls lodge FIR for rape case after small fights with their Friend

Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief Minister of Haryana is recently surrounded by a controversy over making a remark on rape incident. On Friday, at a concert in Kalka, town of Panchkula district, where he stated that most of the rape cases happen between the known ones. His statement on such an issue made the public as well as various political parties groups annoyed. People are raising questions to Manohar Lal Khattar that how can he give a statement on such a delicate issue when he is the chief minister of the state. Political parties are also attacking his views by tweeting their opinion about his statement.

Manohar Lal Khattar remarked by saying, “The incidents of rape have not increased, rapes used to take place in the past and even today as well. The only concern on these incidents has increased.”

He also added by saying, “The biggest concern is that in 80 to 90 percent of rape and eve-teasing cases, the accused and victim know each other. In many cases, they know each other for a long time and, on one day, when there is an argument between them; an FIR is launched, saying he has raped me.”

Khattar’s statement was opposed by various opposition parties, which say “anti-women mindset” of the state government was exposed.


Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted on oh his twitter account, opposing the Haryana’s chief minister’s statement by saying “Anti-Women Mindset of Khattar Govt Exposed! Haryana CM Khattar ji makes an utterly condemnable remark. Blaming Women for complete failures to control Rapes & Gangrapes? Deplorable!”

In another tweet of Surjewala, he said that the Haryana’s chief minister statement was an outcome of his “Talibani thought process”.

Arvind Kejriwal who is the Chief Minister of Delhi also opposed Manohar Lal Khattar’s statement by asking that how girls can be safe in a state whose chief minister defends rape cases with such a statement. He also added by saying that this is the only reason that rape cases in Haryana is rising and the accused are roaming freely.

According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data for 2016, Haryana ranked first from all the states in terms of gang rapes, where there were over 1,000 incidents of rape cases in the state and out of 1,000 incidents 200 were gang rapes which is being listed in the state of Haryana in the duration of one year.

This year only, there was a huge list of rape cases that happened in Haryana state, a recent case of September this year, a rape case in Haryana created a nationwide outrage, when a rape case of 19-yr old girl from Haryana’s Rewari District rose.

In October also, there was another frightening incident occurred in the state of Haryana when a 7-yr old girl of Rewari district was brutally raped when she was returning from her school for her home.
