How to Elevate Your Gamer Level

Listen up gamers, it’s time to pull out all the stops and get serious about your skill levels. 2020 is the year that gamers will rise up and show what they’re truly made of – and in order for you to do that, you’ll need the gear to take you there, plus the skills and practice that every gamer needs to succeed in the competitive world of online play.

If you’re a gamer who’s ready to step up their game and do what it takes to make your mark, you’ll want to check out these next-level tips, tricks, gadgets, and gizmos that will allow you to dominate the world of online play. Check it out.

A serious gaming rig

The most essential part of your gaming experience is probably the rig you play on. Remember, your rig isn’t just your computer, it’s also the full suite of awesome accoutrements you have to add to that machine. Here are some examples:

  • Headphones – all gamers need a quality pair of headphones with a mic attachment, so you can call out to your squad in the heat of battle when things are getting a little dicey, as well as plan the next strategy you intend to implement.
  • Gaming keyboard – you’ve got to have a killer keyboard if you want to succeed in the gaming sphere. Your old Bluetooth one won’t cut it; make sure you’re sporting a mechanical monster typer if you’re serious about busting some baddies online.
  • Gaming mouse – make sure you’ve got a tricked-out multi-function gaming mouse by your side at all times, so you can have lightning-quick responses on those head-to-head arena matches that really come down to the wires

Computers for online gaming should also come equipped with a few features: at least 8GB of RAM (that’s gigabytes, not Great Britain), an SSD (solid state drive), and a graphics card that can handle the high-intensity art featured in many modern games. Of course, your rig isn’t everything. It’s also how you use it.

Grinding

Gamers need to grind to get good. When you see pros executing high-level moves, pwning opponents left and right, and savaging the enemy with their skill, it can seem easy, like they were born to do it. Not so fast, pal. It’s not just inborn skill that elevates these pros to astronomical heights. They also spend hours and hours grinding, getting good at what they do and honing their reflexes to be perfectly in-tune with the game.

How do they do it, you ask? Here’s a gaming training schedule you can use to get seriously good in a reasonable amount of time (but not too quickly because, realistically, it’ll probably take a while):

  1. Devote time every day to gaming. After work, head straight into your Gamer’s Lair and hop online for some friendly matches.
  2. Each day, focus on a specific set of skills – like muscle-group focused workouts at the gym. Mondays, maybe it’s no-scoping opponents from across the map. Tuesday, it’s using powerups at the right time. And so on.
  3. Make sure you watch plenty of gameplay from top professionals in the games you love. You’ll only learn by seeing how they’ve mastered the game.
  4. Give yourself plenty of time to eat, sleep, and rest. You’re only as good as your worst night’s sleep, as the old adage goes.

Grinding isn’t everything, though. You’ll also need to focus on strategy.

Strategy

The last and one of the most important items on this list is strategy – or, as true gamers call it, the Meta-Game. That’s basically knowing what gameplay styles, tips, tricks, and methods of victory are most popular among the pros in your league.

The best way to stay on the pulse of meta-game developments is by logging onto informative forums every day, and finding out what your fellow players are doing to get ahead, what’s working, and what doesn’t.  YouTube and Twitch are also excellent places to learn more, as for many games, pros and streamers will post guides and tutorials that you can use to improve your game and get familiar with the in-vogue strategies.

So, gamer, what are you waiting for? Get out there and show those online lobbies that you’re ready to Rise Up.
