Dr Partit Samdhani, who is treating the legendary singer, said, “She is admitted under me and is critical.”

She further added, “She is suffering from pneumonia and left ventricular failure. She continues to be critical but there has been some improvements in her condition, over the last few hours,”

On Monday evening, Lata Mangeshkar’s younger sister Usha Mangeshkar told the media, “Lata didi is still in hospital. She is under observation. She is doing absolutely well and is stable. She will be discharged by tomorrow.”

Amid reports that singer had already been discharged and was recuperating at home, she said, “We thought it’s better to treat her at a hospital because of the viral infection. So, she is there for today.”

Indian Singing Legend in Critical Condition

Breach Candy Hospital authorities declined to elaborate her condition citing patient confidentiality.

It is learnt that Lata Mangeshkar was taken to the hospital around 1.30am after she complained of breathlessness and was kept on ventilator for some time for her lungs to get cleared.

Lata Mangeshkar, who turned 90 on September 28, has been active on social media but has stopped playback singing for nearly five years now.

It’s sad news for the fans as the 90-year-old Ms. Lata is one of the most respected playback singers in India from eternity and has recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages. Lata has been bestowed with many prestigious awards including, Dada Saheb Phalke award, Bharat Ratna, three national awards and many more.
