Zomato India makes the ‘Happy Rider’ their new profile picture

Recently a video of a Zomato food delivery rider went viral on social media and the rider who featured in the video delighted everyone with his wide smile through the entire video. The video that features the conversation between him and another man caught and the smile of the guy throughout the conversation has caught the attention of everyone including Zomato itself. In turn, the company has changed its profile picture of its social media platforms to the smiling picture of the delivery boy. After changing the profile picture, the food delivery company tweeted: “This is now a happy rider fan account.”

The man featuring in the video has been identified as Sonu, a dweller from Delhi and is now been called ‘Zomato happy rider’ and ‘viral smile guy’. In the video, Sonu said that he works 12 hours a day to earn Rs 350, including incentives. When he is asked if he gets any food from the company, he says, “Haan, jo order cancel ho jata hai vo ho jayega humara (Yes, when a customer cancels the order, it is ours).”

His conversation about his job was recorded in a video by vlogger Delhi DC Rider which was then posted on TikTok by a user called ‘@danishansari81’, in which he can be seen talking about his working hours and income. The video was later uploaded to other social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

The food delivery company’s gesture is being praised by many including Lays India, Pune, and Maharashtra Police, etc. Many people have commented on Zomato’s tweet and even ask to increase the salary of its delivery boys. Apart from this, his happy face has also now become an inspiration for memes in India.
