7-yr-old Girl Gangraped in Maharashtra, Three Accused in Custody

A shocking and tragic case of exploitation has been reported on Monday where a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three men in a broken-down building near her school in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said.

Bazarpeth police station’s inspector Yeshwant Chavan said in a statement that the incident took place last Thursday after which the total three accused, who sexually harassed the Class 2 girl on earlier occasions were also arrested.

The accused have been identified as Navin Jasuza (24), Ajay Dehare (34) as well as Vikram Purohit (19), who used to work at different shops in Kalyan town here.

This is what happed on the day of September 19: The girl came out of her school, where these three accused took her to an abandoned building which was situated nearby and allegedly raped her, the official said.

The girl then informed about the incident to her parents who then immediately took the right step by lodging a complaint with police against the accused.

Based on the complaint, the accused were then later arrested last Friday, he said. After that they were later produced before a local court which imprisoned them in police custody till September 24.

Earlier to the incident of gangrape, it’s been reported that the accused had been sexually harassing the girl, the official said.

In the meantime, the three men have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and will be punished strictly he added.
