On Sunday, the Union health ministry has listed limitations and restrictions such as active novel coronavirus cases, expanding and casualty rates as per lakh population, for states as well as union territories in order to follow while classifying areas into different zones such as red, orange or green zones.

Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan stated in a letter to the states as well as union territories that the states might classify districts or municipal corporations into hotspots, red, orange as well as green zones.

On the other hand, they may possibly also select for classifying the sub-division, ward or any additional suitable administrative unit into the colour-coded zones after thorough examination at their end, taking the consideration of the geographical spread of the COVID-19 cases, contacts and their zone of effect in terms of the spread of the disease, the letter further stated.
