It is the prequel of the Despicable Me film series that was also directed by Kyle Badla along with Brad Ableson. Jonathan del Val is the co-director of the series. Minions: The Rise Of Gru was scheduled to be released theatrically on 3rd July 2020 in the United States by Universal Pictures but it was delayed by the makers due to the coronavirus pandemic in the world. The new release date is 2nd July 2021, it is around one year delay.

2nd July 2021 is the latest date decided by makers for ‘Minions: The Rise Of Gru’. The pandemic has forced the makers to change the date for the series. The CEO of Illumination production Chris Meledandri says that the release date has been pushed to 2nd July 2021 due to the closing of French studio because of the COVID-19 crisis that made him unable to complete the shoot. He is hoping that people are able to wait for next year and the series will give the best content to its admirers.

Meledandri said ” In the response of the uncertainty in France, temporarily they are closing their studio Illumination Mac studio in Paris.
