The government of Kerala has announced some new coronavirus guidelines that should be followed for almost a year until it is not dismissed by the government itself. As per these new guidelines, only 50 people can be a part of the wedding ceremony while only 20 can take attend the funeral process. The person spits on the road has to face strict punishment and the cinema halls where thousands of people gather would not be opened soon. Not only cinema hall but most of the large gathering and hangout places will not be opened until this pandemic doesn’t say bye to the world.
In view of it, most of the films are skipping the theatrical release and have been released on the digital platforms. Recently, the Mollywood film Sufiyum Sujathyum was released on Amazon Prime on 3rd July 2020. It has become the first film to release on the OTT platform. The current situation of the world is compelling producers to release the film on the digital platforms at the place of theatres while theatre owners are urging them to not do so. The filmmakers have said that they can’t wait of theatres to reopen because they have already waited for over three months and now it is not clear when it would be reopened and if it is reopened so which movie will be given priority to, so it’s far better to release now on OTTs. It is not the single concern but also producers are in huge trouble and believes that the most of the people will hesitate to go out of the house even after the reopening of the theatres due to safety concern.
It has been announced recently that Mohanlal’s blockbuster film Drishyam will begin from 5th August. It’s a sequel of the all-time popular film Drishyam. The sources close to the film said that makers will start shooting with all the safety precautions need. If everything goes as per the plan, the makers will wrap up shooting within three to four months and as per the situation of the time, it will be released on the OTT or in theatres.
Suresh Gopi’s film Kaaval is also stuck in a huge dilemma. The teaser of the film has already been revealed by the makers while some action scenes are yet to be shot.
