63rd National Film Award ceremony was held on 3rd May 2016. An evening studded with some inestimable gems of Bollywood like Amitabh Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and lots more. President Pranab Mukherji presented the award at the ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan.
Along with Amitabh and family, veteran director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, choreographer Remo D’Souza, Kabir khan and many other celebs were also present at the ceremony.
Kangana was looking fabulous in an off-shoulder gown getting honoured as the best actress in Tanu Weds Manu Returns for her excellent dual act in the film. This is the third award she got on the stage. First, two were she won for her roles in Queen and Fashion .
While Amitabh dressed up in a jet black suit. This is the fourth award of NFA won by him. This time, he got an award for his act in the film Piku.
A total of 21 awards were given by the President in the Non-Feature Film category while the number of awards in Feature Film category was 51 and three awards were given to Best Writing on Cinema.
Film Bajirao Mastani was honoured with many awards. Sanjay Leela Bhansali got the best director award for it and Remo D’Souza got the best choreographer award for the movie.
Salman’s journey from India to Pakistan in the film Bajrangi Bhaijaan got Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. While Bahubali:The Beginning got the best film award.
This year National Film Awards included a special award given to the state of Gujarat for being the most film friendly state in the country and versatile film actor and director Manoj Kumar was awarded the 47th Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the function.
