Emmy Awards 2016: Drama Series Game of Thrones breaks record won Five times :- The world most popular American drama show, “Games of Throne” has broken several records by snatching the 12 awards out of the 24 categories in which it was nominated in at Sunday night’s ceremony.
This modern American drama series has now broken the records of Frasier’s record of 37 Emmy wins and became the first drama series to won more than 37 Emmy wins.
Meanwhile, Dame Maggie Smith won the outstanding supporting actress for her role in Downton Abbey. Although, Dame was not present there for taking the award at the night.
The One’s Sherlock series of BBC won the best variety talk series and Susanne Bier, won the award for the best director award for directing the BBC’s spy thriller The Night Manager.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the best comedian actress award for her epic role in the comedy show “Veep.” This is the fifth straight time when Julia Louis-Dreyfus has won the award for the best comedian and this, comedian actress dedicated her award to her beloved father who dies on last Friday.
“Veep,” itself won the outstanding comedy series for the second time in the consecutive years. Tony Hale won the best supporting role award for his president’s personal aide Gary Walsh role in Veep.
Meanwhile, the Rami Malek won the award for lead actor in the drama series “Mr. Robot” and Tatiana Maslany won the award for the best female actress for her vital role in Orphan Black.
Although the biggest match winners of Sunday Night was The People vs OJ Simpson. This show has already won the five trophies. The “Master of None” claimed their first ever Emmy award for the outstanding writing for a comedy series.
But, Games of Throne were ahead in the race after claiming the 12 Emmys award and they deserves it for their outstanding drama series for all those years.
