Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and hairstylist Adhuna Akhtar, his wife of 15 years, have announced their separation. Farhan, 42, and Adhuna 48, issued a joint statement on Thursday stating that they have ended their marriage and would like their privacy to be respected.
They have two daughters, Shakya and Akira. The Akhtars have reportedly said that it is just ‘a matter of growing apart over the years’.
The couple met for the first time on the sets of Farhan’s directorial debut, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. Adhuna, who is six years older to Farhan, also debuted as a hair stylist in Bollywood with the movie.
Apart from being a hairstylist on the set of Farhan’s movies, she has opened chains salons across India under the brand ‘b:blunt’.
On Wednesday (January 20), Farhan and Adhuna are said to have released an official statement which read, “This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner.”
We just hope that everything goes well in their lives and for their children’s too.
