Patch Magtanong Wins Miss International Beauty Pageant 2019 Crown First Time From Thailand: Thailand has taken home the title of Miss International 2019 for the first time in history. The pageant, which is in its 58th year, was live-streamed across the world on Tuesday and saw 82 contestants from around the globe competing for the title on Tuesday at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Bunkyo district, Tokyo, Japan.

The three-hour show ended with Thailand’s 25-year-old pharmacist, Sireethorn Leearamwat being crowned the new Miss International. Sireethorn “Bint” Leearamwat became the first Thai to win a prestigious international pageant in over 30 years at the Miss International 2019 pageant when Thailand’s Porntip Nakhirunkanok won Miss Universe.
The rest of the top five included Miss Mexico, Miss Uganda, Miss Colombia, and the Miss United Kingdom, in that order. Upon winning, she said, “I didn’t expect to be here. I’m very proud that I can be here. I’m so proud of myself and so proud of my team and so proud of my nation … I hope all women do it like me. If you have a dream, follow it.”
Miss International forms part of the “Big Four” pageants which include Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Earth. While a new Miss Earth has also been crowned, the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants will take place later in December 2019.
Speech Round Miss International 2019 Grand Final
Following the same format as in the 2018 competition, the contestants were classified under five continents category: (1) Europe, (2) Oceania, (3) Africa, (4) Americas, and (5) Asia. The competition rounds consisted of national costume, swimwear, and evening gown. The contestants were trimmed to 15 semifinalists. After which, they were narrowed down to the top 8 finalists. The top 8 were then each given a chance to deliver their prepared final speech. The top 5 were then selected: Miss International 2019 and her four runners-up.

During the speech portion of the pageant, where finalists had 45 seconds to talk, Sireethorn said, “Do you know I was criticized a lot when I was crowned as Miss Thailand? I dare to dream to be a beauty queen, even there’s nothing really to my career, a pharmacist, I used all critiques as a power to make myself improve to be the best representative and make my nation proud.”
Reportedly, Bint has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Mahidol University and is currently working as a product specialist for immunotherapy medication. Her win as Miss Thailand (Nang Sao Thai) earlier this year, which determined who would be Thailand’s representative to the Miss International pageant, was her first time on the pageant circuit.
