Sri Lanka has played in World Cup many times and is considered as one of the strongest teams and it has reached the finals thrice in its lifetime. Sri Lanka has won the ICC World Cup trophy once in its career. Sri Lanka has won the WC 1996 in which the Sri Lankan team defeated Australia by 7 wicket. In 2007 and 2011, Sri Lanka reached the final but unfortunately was defeated by Australia and India respectively.
