With the rising cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the outbreak has led the government to postpone the examinations both at the central level and the individual states along with the recruitment and entrance examinations till March 31.

People have been advised to take social distancing measures along with encouraging everyone to not get out of their homes. Apart from this people are being asked to wash hands regularly and avoid travelling.

After 151 people were reported to be COVID-19 positive, the governments have taken swift action to ensure that students are not exposed to the infection. An official said, “We did not want to disrupt the board examination schedule. However, the rise in reported COVID-19 positive cases has forced us to take this decision. It was felt that maintaining 3-6 feet distance between each student in an exam centre was not feasible.”

Below is the list of examinations that have been postponed because of the Coronavirus outbreak:

1. CBSE board exams:

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed all the remaining board exams of classes 10 and 12 scheduled to be held between March 19 and March 31. CBSE answer sheet evaluation has also been paused and the board examiners have been sent home.

2. ICSE and ISC board exams:

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) has postponed the board exams for class 10 or and class 12 which were scheduled to be held between March 19 and March 31. The revised schedule has not been released yet.

3. All exams in Uttar Pradesh:

The Uttar Pradesh state government has ordered all its schools to be closed till April 2, 2020. All exams in the state scheduled between March 16 and March 31 have been postponed.

4. All exams in Goa:

The Goa government has postponed all exams of classes 9 to 12 scheduled from March 21 onwards till further notice. Goa had already cancelled exams till class 8 and had decided to promote students to the next class without exams.

5. All exams in Maharashtra till class 8:

The Maharashtra government decided to promote all its students up to class 8 to the next class without the annual exams. However, the remaining two papers for the Maharashtra SSC class 10 board exams will be carried out as per schedule. The boards will end on March 23.

The exams for class 9 and class 11 students will be held after April 10, 2020.  Teachers, except the ones for class 10, can work from home.

6. Telangana board exams:

The Telangana SSC board exams or the class 10 board exams of the state which began on March 19 have been postponed.

7. All exams in Kerala:

The Kerala state government has postponed all state board exams of classes 10, 11 and 12, and all university exams till March 31. The new dates will be announced after the Coronavirus situation in India is assessed at the time.

8. JEE Main Exam:

The National Testing Agency (NTA) postponed the JEE Main exam which was scheduled to be held between 5 and 11 April. The new JEE Main dates will be informed to candidates through their registered email ID and phone number.

9. UPSSSC Junior Clerk & Assistant Exam:

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) postponed the recruitment exam for the post of Junior Assistant and Clerk Exam 2016, which was scheduled to take place between March 18 to March 26.

10. UPSC Civil Services personality tests:

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the Personality Tests (interviews) which was initially scheduled from March 23, 2020, to April 3, 2020, for all the candidates who gave the Civil Services Examination in 2019 due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

The new schedule for the interviews will be announced soon by the organization.

11. National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS):

All practical and theory exams at the National Institute of Open Schooling scheduled to be held between March 19 and March 31 have been postponed. The fresh dates will be announced soon.

12. Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC):

As per a notification, all the written exams and interviews of the Kerala Public Service Commission or KPSC which were scheduled till April 14 have been postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The new interview dates will be announced later.

13. MAH MCA CET 2020:

The MAH MCA CET 2020 exam scheduled to be conducted on March 28 has been postponed. It will now be held on April 30.

14. ITBP Constable Recruitment Exam:

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) recruitment exam which was scheduled to be held on March 22 has been postponed.

15. BPSC Assistant Engineer Recruitment Exam:

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced that the BPSC Assistant Engineer recruitment exam which was scheduled to be held on March 21, 22, 28, and 29 have been postponed. The new exam dates will be announced soon.

16. Karnataka SSLC Exam:

The Karnataka SSLC Exam 2020 scheduled to be held from March 27, 2020, to April 9, 2020, has been postponed. The Karnataka government has also decided to drop or cancel the class 8 and 9 examinations in the state and the students will be promoted to the next class without appearing for their final exam.

The Karnataka PUC II Exams 2020 however are currently going on and are scheduled to end on March 23, 2020. These exams have not been postponed.

17. Punjab board exams

The PSEB announced that all the practical board exams for Class 8 as well as the scheduled written exams for classes 5, 10 and 12 have been postponed till March 31.
